BS Health Notices
Welcome to the Burton Street Health Office!
It is my goal to help maintain the health, well being, and facilitate the best learning outcomes for each student here in a welcoming atmosphere. You can help me do so by keeping your child home from school according to our sick policy. The guidelines are meant to serve the best interests of all children in our school. I understand not all elementary school students are able to express a specific ailment or may do so in a vague way, so please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns.
Should there be any updates regarding your student’s medical history, immunizations, screenings, or contact information, please notify me of such.
Health Tips for a great school year:
-Wash hands frequently with soap and water for 20 seconds
-Cover your mouth using your inner elbow when coughing or sneezing
-Try to avoid touching your face as cold and flu viruses enter through your nose, mouth, and eyes
-Get plenty of sleep at night - According to the Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine “Children 6 to 12 years of age should sleep 9 to 12 hours per 24 hours on a regular basis to promote optimal health.”
-Eat a healthy, balanced diet high in nutritionally dense foods and limiting high salt, fat, and sugar foods.
-Stay active! It is recommended children get 60 minutes of physical activity each day.
