STEPS TO VOTE BY ABSENTEE BALLOT

As soon as the official notice of the vote (time and content) are posted via legal notice in the designated newspapers (Cazenovia Republican and Oneida Daily Dispatch) eligible voters of the Cazenovia Central School District may request an absentee ballot by completing an application. There must be a legitimate reason for requesting an absentee ballot (i.e. military service, duties, occupation, vacation, college student, etc). A voter may request more than one application if doing so on behalf of another eligible voter.

A list of all voters to whom an absentee ballot was issued will be kept on file in the District Office and available for inspection by any eligible voter during regular business hours for the five business days preceeding the vote.

1.  Obtain and complete an absentee ballot APPLICATION

Applications can be obtained in multiple ways as follows:

A)  Download an application here:  2023.12.12 Absentee Ballot Application
B)  Request an application be mailed to you here:  Request for Absentee Ballot Application
C)  Pick up an application in person in the District Office during regular business hours (Monday to Friday, 7:30 am to 3:00 pm)

2.  Return the APPLICATION to the District Clerk

If the application is returned to the District Clerk by mail, it must be received at least seven days prior to the vote. If the application is returned to the District Clerk in person, it must be received at least one day prior to the vote.

Once an application is received, the District Clerk will immediately issue an absentee ballot and return envelope either by mail or in person. If in person, the voter will have the opportunity to complete the absentee ballot and envelope, and deposit such into the ballot box.

3.  Complete and return the ABSENTEE BALLOT and ENVELOPE

After you receive your absentee ballot you must return it either by mail or in person, and it must be received by the District Clerk no later than the day of the vote. It must be returned in its completed, corresponding envelope in order to be counted.

For additional information on Absentee Ballots, please see the District's Policy 1640.
