Board of Education Announces Special Election
The Cazenovia Central School District (CCSD) Board of Education announces their decision to fill the current vacancy on the Board by special election, in accordance with New York State Education Law. The special election will be held on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, with the winner serving the remainder of the vacant term, through June 30, 2027.
The new board member, like all members, will be responsible for making policy decisions based on state and federal law, engaging in long-term strategic planning, and monitoring the district's academic performance and financial status.
Qualifications for Board Membership:
Nominees must meet the following legal qualifications:
- A U.S. citizen
- At least 18 years of age
- Able to read and write
- A district resident for at least one year prior to appointment
- Not employed by the Cazenovia Central School District
- Does not reside with another member of the same school board as a member of the same family
- Does not hold another incompatible public office
- Not a convicted felon
- Has not been removed from a position within another school district in New York within the past year
Interested candidates who meet the legal criteria must file a nominating petition signed by at least thirty-five (35) qualified voters with the District Clerk, by 5pm on Monday, August 17, 2026.
