Cazenovia Central School District: Proposed Budget Adjustment for 2025-26

The Cazenovia Central School District is pleased to announce an adjustment to the proposed budget for the upcoming fiscal year. Due to an increase in state aid in the adopted New York State budget, the district has been able to reduce the proposed tax levy increase from 7.55% to 6.77%.

"The updated state aid allows us to present a budget that is both fiscally responsible and directly aligned with our community's values. We remain committed to providing an exceptional education for all our students," said Superintendent Chris DiFulvio. "Our proposed budget also directly supports rigorous curricular initiatives such as Wit and Wisdom for English Language Arts and Eureka Math Squared."

The level of state aid Cazenovia receives from the state is influenced by the district's wealth ratio, which is currently 27.2% above the state average, indicating a greater capacity for local funding over the need for state aid.

"When we talk about managing resources effectively, it's important to look at the numbers”, said School Business Official Tom Finnerty. “Our tax rate, for example, ranks as the second lowest in Madison County and the sixth lowest within the OCM BOCES region. This demonstrates our commitment to providing strong value to our community while maintaining a high-quality educational environment for our students."

The Budget Vote will take place on Tuesday, May 20, from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. in the auxiliary gymnasium at the Middle School. Your participation is encouraged.
