CHS Junior Andrew Szalach Selected to Serve as the New York State FFA Treasurer

Andrew Curtis Szalach, currently a junior at Cazenovia High School and member of the Cazenovia Aggies FFA Chapter, has been selected to serve as the 2024 to 2025 New York State FFA Treasurer. Andrew was formally elected Friday, May 3rd at the FFA State Convention in Buffalo, and will officially take office on July 1st. He believed it was his time to serve the FFA in a larger capacity, and to make a difference with all students who are passionate in agriculture. The selection process began in April with a series of interviews, speeches, tests and video submissions detailing public speaking prowess, agricultural knowledge and FFA experience. 18 candidates from across New York ran for 6 positions as a FFA State Officer. 
 
As the State Treasurer Andrew will be serving on state and national committees to advocate for agricultural education, facilitate chapter visits, host conferences and leadership workshops, and teach leadership classes during summer camp at Camp Oswegatchie.
 
Andrew served as the Cazenovia Aggies FFA President for the past two years. He was able to serve his fellow classmates, community and others by leading his chapter to new heights with increased membership, participation and competition success after the pandemic and is thankful or the support both the support of his fellow members and his advisor, Ms. Mandi Millen
 
Andrew was raised on his family's 7th generation dairy farm, Cedarcut Farm, south of Cazenovia, where daily chores and tasks were the key to a strong work ethic. Finding a deep passion for both the dairy industry and agricultural technology, fueling his passion for agriculture and pushing him to join the FFA in 7th grade.
 
The New York FFA  Association, formerly Future Farmers of America, was founded in 1928 and serves over 12,000 members with hundreds of chapters in high schools and BOCES Centers. FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by promoting premier leadership, personal growth and career success through Agricultural Education.
