NYSED Invites CCSD Community to Attend Presentation on January 10
On Wednesday, January 10th, 6 pm the Boards of the Morrisville - Eaton Central School District and Cazenovia Central School District will be holding a joint retreat at the Hampton Inn in Cazenovia. At the retreat, the State Education Department will present a comprehensive analysis on the advantages and disadvantages of a potential reorganization between The Cazenovia Central School District and Morrisville-Eaton Central School District. The meeting will focus on topics like sharing central services and programs, while operating the current buildings as is.Please note that there is no pre-existing intent, and this meeting is for informational purposes only. In an effort to continue to research different opportunities to remain as fiscally responsible to the community as possible while maintaining high standards in terms of educating our students, the NYSED presentation on January 10th is being offered to explore the possible pros and cons of shared services, to see if it is anything that either/both districts could benefit from.
There are no plans to take any action at this time, nor at the presentation. Both districts are trying to be mindful of how they can best ensure financial sustainability, and they want to collect as much data as possible. In the continued spirit of transparency, it will be an open event, so anyone wishing to attend can be present for the presentation.
Although there will not be an opportunity at this meeting for public forum or questions, as this is a NYSED presentation for the boards to learn about what reorganization is and will not include a public comment session, we welcome feedback from our commuity on any/all aspects of the District. We will be sure to let the CCSD community know of any new information regarding this matter.
