CHS Cazenovia Students Attend CNY HS Film Festival, One Wins Second Place

Cazenovia students attended the 19th annual CNY High School Film Festival at the Palace Theatre in Syracuse. Haylee Stearns (9th grade) and several of her classmates entered a film in the “Comedy” category titled “Discussions with a Dirtbag: Serial Killer.”  In the largest category at the festival, Haylee’s entry placed 2nd. All submissions were voted on by judges who work in the film/tv industry. As a first time participant, she competed with not only upper class students but students from schools such as FM, B’ville, ESM and ITC. We are very proud of her and her accomplishments. 
 
The Central New York High School Film Festival is a local interscholastic event, hosted by area schools, for high school students.  Students in any area high school are eligible to participate. School districts who participated in the festival are Cazenovia, Baldwinsville, Jamesville-Dewitt, East Syracuse Minoa, Fayetteville-Manlius, Liverpool, MPH, Red Creek Schools, and Syracuse ITC.  In 2023, Syracuse ITC hosted the festival.
 
Haylee’s work was created and produced in Mr. Hammond’s Computer Graphics and Multimedia class. In this class students work with various Adobe products with a focus on Filmmaking and editing.
