CHS Teacher Mandi Millen Presents at National Agriculture Conference
During the June 2022 National Agriculture in the Classroom Conference, Cazenovia High School teacher Mandi Millen presented a workshop to all participants in attendance. Each summer, Ms. Millen takes the initiative and challenge to present at this conference as a teacher leader in the New York State Association of Agricultural Educators (NYAAE). Ms. Millen's willingness to share ideas and collaborate with other teachers in the state is part of what makes agricultural education in New York State so successful. This year’s conference participants enjoyed exciting activity-based workshops that addressed the needs of the constantly changing agricultural and agri-science programs, including development in rigorous STEM instruction and inquiry-based learning. More than 625 agricultural educators and teachers from across the country attended this event sponsored by NYAAE and National Agriculture in the Classroom.
The activities presented by Ms. Millen helped other teachers to achieve new goals and lessons while developing their own personal teaching styles and abilities. Pictured with Ms. Millen are two of her former Cazenovia students and former Cazenovia FFA Aggies, Molly Woodworth Huttar and Ashely Kent Wightman. Mrs. Huttar is an ag educator at DeRuyter Central School District and Mrs. Wightman teaches agriculture at Tri-Valley.
