Attendance
All children in New York State of school age who are in proper physical and mental condition are required to attend school.
One of the factors which determines the amount of state aid received by our school district is the record of attendance of the students. Naturally, continuity of instruction is influenced by the regularity of a child’s attendance. For these reasons, it is very important that every child attend school, on time, every day school is in session, unless he or she is ill. If a student is ill, please keep him/her at home. His/her attendance in school may infect others and cause more absence.
It is required by state law that every absence, legal or illegal, be explained by a written note from home, signed by the parent, upon the student’s return to school. The note should specifically state the date and cause of absence.
